THIS MONTH AT RIVERSTONE KIDS 〰️

Preschool

  • God made me. God loves me. And God has plans for me. That is the foundation we want to begin to construct and create for our preschoolers this month. We want them to grow up knowing God has plans for them that include good things for them to do. We want them to know they can trust God’s plans and that His plans are always best. And just like we can wait for birthdays and Christmas, we can wait on God’s plans too!

Each of our preschoolers are building their own story with their lives. It is our hope and prayer that they will choose to build it with God by trusting that His plans are best. With God, we know they will construct and create a story that will leave a legacy of faith for generations to come.

    Adam and Eve
When God made the world, God made Adam and Eve and put them in a beautiful garden. God loved Adam and Eve, and they loved God. God brought each animal to Adam and whatever Adam called each animal, that was its name! God wanted Adam and Eve to take care of the garden and everything in it. That means take care of the land and the plants and the animals, and grow food in the garden. God gave Adam and Eve really good things to do. God wanted them to take care of the world He made! God has good things for us to do too because God has plans for us.

    Baby Moses
Pharaoh wanted to hurt all the baby boys who were Israelites. That means Pharaoh wanted to hurt baby Moses! When his mother could not hide him in her home anymore, she made a special basket for baby Moses. Then she put baby Moses in the basket and hid the basket in the tall grass by the river. Miriam, Moses’ sister, stayed and watched to see what would happen. Pharaoh’s daughter found Moses and decided to keep Moses safe. Moses’ mom trusted God’s plans. God had plans for Moses, and God has plans for us.

    King Josiah
Josiah was very young when he became king. As king, Josiah kept the people safe and helped them know the right things to do. While they were repairing the temple, some of King Josiah’s workers found a scroll with God’s words on it. When King Josiah heard God’s words, he called all the people together so they could hear God’s words too! After everyone had heard God’s words, King Josiah and all the people promised to follow God’s plans. Why? Because God’s plans are best! God had plans for Josiah, and God has plans for us.

    Abraham & Sarah
God told Abraham, “Look up at the sky. Count the stars, if you can. That’s how many children will be born into your family.” (Genesis 15:5 NIrV) Abraham and Sarah were excited about God’s plan, but many years went by. Abraham and Sarah became very old. One day God sent three visitors to Abraham, and they told him that in one year Sarah would have a baby boy. Sarah heard what the men said, and she started laughing! But exactly one year later, Abraham and Sarah had a little boy, and they named him Isaac. Abraham and Sarah waited a long time for God’s plan, and we can wait, too, because God has plans for us.

  • “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.

Elementary

  • God has given each of us a key role to play in His story—but that doesn’t mean the journey will be easy. As we continue to follow the journey of God’s people, we discover that Moses wasn’t ready for his leading role; that Joshua and Caleb had to go against the flow; that Rahab put everything on the line for the sake of a God worshiped by her enemies; and that Ruth set aside the safety of home to forge into the unknown. God’s people were on the move, but every new step was an act of courage.

While the kids in our lives aren’t facing down an Egyptian ruler or setting off for new lands, they still need courage to do difficult things every single day. From speaking up in class to starting a conversation with a new kid to facing a doctor visit, kids need the help of God’s Holy Spirit.

You can remind them that feeling scared doesn’t mean they can’t be brave. In fact, courage means trusting God to help you be brave. When kids choose to rely on God’s help to do something hard, even when they’re afraid, others can see God at work—and on the move.

    Moses

Though he’s a larger-than-life figure to us now, Moses actually didn’t feel prepared for any of the challenges he faced. When God called to Moses out of a burning bush and told him to go to Pharaoh, Moses protested—even when God gave him signs. But God was patient with Moses and gave him the courage and help he needed to go before Pharaoh and order the release of God’s people. God helped Moses to brave the ten plagues and the flight from Egypt. And God helped Moses to stand firm when God’s people were trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army.

    Joshua and the Spies
After a long journey through the wilderness, Moses and God’s people neared the land that God had promised to them. But when Moses sent out twelve spies to survey the land, they came back with mixed reports. While the spies all agreed the land was full of good things, ten of the spies were fearful of the people who lived there in strong, walled cities. Joshua and Caleb alone encouraged the people that God was with them and would help them take the land. But when God’s people gave in to panic instead of listening to Joshua, God told Moses the people must now wander in the wilderness for 40 years. Only Joshua and Caleb would live to enter the Promised Land.

    Rahab Helps the Spies
Nearly forty years later, it was at last time for God’s people, now led by Joshua, to enter the Promised Land. But the strong-walled city of Jericho guarded the entrance to the new land. So Joshua sent two spies into the city, where they met a woman named Rahab. Instead of reporting the men, she risked everything to hide them from danger. Because of this, Rahab and her family were saved when God’s people conquered Jericho.

    Ruth
When Naomi returned home to Bethlehem from Moab, after losing her husband and sons, she expected to go back alone. But her daughter-in-law Ruth chose to give up her homeland and everything she knew to make the long journey to Bethlehem with Naomi… even though she had no idea what would happen to her there. Once they arrived, Ruth continued to help her mother-in-law. Because of Ruth’s courage, God gave her a new family, and Ruth even became part of the family line of Jesus.

The Rock

  • The Rock is what we call everything happening at Riverstone on Wednesday nights - a time designed for the whole family to grow in faith and have fun!

Just like Jesus Christ is our rock and firm foundation, The Rock is a place where kids, students, and parents can connect, worship, and experience God in powerful ways. From engaging, Bible-based teaching and high-energy worship to interactive games, small groups, and activities for every age, there’s something for everyone.

Come be part of a community that feels like family, where faith is built, friendships are made, and Wednesday nights become the highlight of your week!

  • BOLD. This year on Wednesday nights, we’re asking a big question: What does it really mean to live out our faith with boldness? Together, we’ll explore what it looks like for a generation to step out in courage, take their faith beyond the walls of the church, and impact the world around them.

The best part? Every week the entire family will be learning and growing through the same core concept, tailored for every age group in fun, engaging, and powerful ways. Parents will also receive resources to help keep the conversation going at home, making faith a bold and everyday part of family life.
