our stories. His glory.
Your story matters.
Our stories are more than just stories. They are public displays of how Jesus Christ has moved in and transformed our lives through His unconditional love and undeserved grace. Our testimonies point to the glory and goodness of God while revealing how much we need Him. Whether your story is rooted in tragedy, addiction, suffering, or a simple salvation prayer at the age of four years old, we all need Jesus just as much.
Every encounter with the Lord is an opportunity for us to tell the world who He is and what he has done for us! Every story has the potential to change someone’s life. Every story is worth telling.
Our stories bring light to the darkness.
“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
God has commanded us to be a light for Him. We can do that by being obedient in sharing our testimony no matter whether or not we consider it significant in comparison to the stories of others. Our stories, combined with actions that exhibit the love of God, are a powerful tool in ministering hope to those who are lost.
We’re called to encourage one another.
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23-25
Our stories not only testify of God’s goodness to the lost, they encourage other Christians in ways we cannot even imagine. Even the smallest of stories can lift someone’s spirit, brighten their day, or impact them in a huge way.
We may never know the impact our stories will have, but each of us has encountered God’s love and that is not insignificant or small! We share our testimonies to bring glory and honor to God, we share as an act of worship, we share that the lost may be found, and we share that we might be an encouragement to other believers.
Testimonies are an act of worship.
As believers, we have the opportunity to glorify God by sharing our stories of His redemption in our lives. Sharing our testimony is an act of praise and adoration that honors God.
Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
