Job Title: Worship & Discipleship Pastor
Reports To: Lead Pastor
Position Status: Part-Time or Full‐Time, Salary/Pay to be Negotiated
Summary: The Worship & Discipleship Pastor provides pastoral leadership for Riverstone Church by overseeing all worship ministries and implementing the churchwide discipleship process. This role exists to cultivate Christ centered and spirit led worship in the church for all Sunday, Wednesday, and special services. A second role is to ensure that discipleship pathways are clearly defined, consistently implemented, and spiritually fruitful across the life of the church. The Worship & Discipleship Pastor coordinates worship, shepherds people, equips leaders for both worship and discipleship, and partners with the pastoral staff to help individuals grow as wholehearted followers of Jesus.
Essential Functions for Worship Leadership:
Provide vision, leadership, and pastoral care for all worship ministries, including music, vocalists, and production teams.
Plan and oversee weekly worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and pastoral staff, ensuring theological, musical, and spiritual alignment.
Maintain worship standards, song selection processes, and rotation schedules consistent with Riverstone’s values and theology.
Recruit, train, disciple, and pastorally develop worship team members, fostering both spiritual maturity and excellence in gifting.
Oversee worship ministry logistics, including scheduling, service planning software, and coordination with production teams.
Lead and support worship for special services, holidays, baptisms, and church-wide events.
Essential Functions for Discipleship Leadership
In collaboration with the Riverstone Leadership Team, develop, implement, and oversee Riverstone Church’s discipleship process, ensuring clarity from first-time guest to mature disciple.
Equip and support ministry leaders, small group leaders, and volunteers to effectively carry out the discipleship pathway.
Work collaboratively with staff to align teaching, groups, and ministries with the church’s discipleship vision.
Regularly evaluate discipleship effectiveness and make adjustments to improve spiritual growth and engagement.
Pastoral & Staff Responsibilities
Pray regularly for the church, staff, and ministry leaders.
Participate in weekly staff meetings, planning meetings, and leadership development as required.
Provide pastoral presence and care within the congregation as part of the broader pastoral team.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor or Board of Directors.
Job Skills & Requirements
The ideal candidate demonstrates a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong calling to both worship leadership and discipleship ministry. They possess a pastoral heart, a passion for forming disciples, and the ability to lead teams with humility and clarity. Proficiency in leading worship vocally and instrumentally (e.g., guitar or piano) is expected, along with experience building and leading volunteer teams in a local church context. Strong organizational, relational, and leadership skills are essential, as is familiarity with worship technologies such as sound systems, ProPresenter, and service planning software. The candidate must be dependable, spiritually mature, and committed to excellence in both ministry and character.
